Punk Today?? What has become of all that RAD?
Today, Punk has become name brand clothes. Where it used to represent an idea, it has now become the fad. Punk music is the music that teenagers listen to be cool. Punk was a word that defined a small scene in NYC. Punk just divided into two things: punk fashion and punk ethic.
Punk ideology views the world as deeply corrupt and Punk thought usually achieves its highest level of expression through punk music, fanzines, and spoken-word albums. Punk, since the mid-1970s, has always been a movement of rebellion and discontent but it wasn't until the around 1980 to 1984, sometimes referred to as the second wave of Punk, that it became an overtly political movement.
Punks often portray the media for the masses as an instrument of social control. Punk music rejects the commercialism and the power groups that control the media. Their music is loud, fast, aggressive and defies the expectations that the listener has become accustomed to from listening to other, more commercial forms of music.
Punk rocker's spiky hair, leather attire and punk sneer…Punk started as a way of venting rage at the corruption of society. In the end, it has become mainstream and fashion has replaced political attitude.
