Here are a few things you missed:
The 1930's was era of genteel style, when the transition
from daywear to evening wear mirrored the transition from daytime practicality
to night glamour. These were days of
gold and silver lames, beading and appliques added the glitter to the glam.
Fishtail hems skirted the floors. It was Wallis
Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor exemplified the fashion of the day much more than King Edward. The styles
were flirty and feminine. Dresses were
designed and cut on a bias that draped the body and provided the stretch to
cover the contours of the female body.
The designers of note in addition to Madeliene Vonnet were:
Elsa Schiaparelli, Chanel and Mainbocher. The 1930’s introducde nylon hosiery and the zipper. Cloche hats were all the rave!
Anyone have anything to add??
